Our Story

What do you get when two curious humans with a passion for the outdoors and travel decide that they want to bring adventures home in a unique way? You get their favorite terrains crafted into detailed 3D art. You get Little Mountain Maps. We wanted to be able to bring the rugged and wild into our home, to invoke memories, inspiration, and good conversation. Little Mountain Maps was born out of the desire to create precise and incredibly detailed 3D maps of terrains we love.

We are incredibly honored to be able to share with you our first designs, all of which are of places from where we call home—the Pacific Northwest. Each piece holds countless special memories for us, and we hope you will find one that carries special meaning for you too.

Meet the Makers

Austin – Husband, Father, Summit Seeker, Engineer, Cheeseburger Lover, Green Thumb, and Master of the Maps

My fascination with printed maps, especially those that showcase places in unusual or artistic ways, has always inspired me. I have a particular fondness for three-dimensional maps and scale models, like the exhibits found in museums and national park visitor centers. I wanted one of these to examine and display in my own home, but my search often ended in frustration. The few options available tended to oversimplify the landscape, reducing complex terrains to a series of vague, rounded bumps—molehills out of mountains! I craved precision, a replica that faithfully mirrored real-life contours, so I could feel the terrain beneath my fingertips.

Connilyn – Wife, Mama, Hype Woman, Foodie, Travel Addict, Alpine Lake Plunger, and Gardener-in-Training

My love for the outdoors began in childhood, where I spent countless hours from sunrise to sunset exploring the mountains and trails of our Idaho homestead. The beautiful creation of nature is a source of joy and inspiration for me, and traveling to new places with Austin always sparks creativity and connection. Helping to share Austin's thoughtfully crafted pieces—tangible keepsakes of the places that hold our most cherished memories—feels truly meaningful.

Colors

For this collection, we’ve selected earthy tones that evoke the essence of home—the Pacific Northwest.

Snowdrift White  – Reminds us of a quiet forest snowfall, the thick morning fog of a fresh powder day, or first chair on Mt. Bachelor.

Alvord Beige – Reminds us of twilight on the Alvord Desert, or the windswept dunes of the Oregon Coast.

Driftwood Brown – Reminds us of dusk on the beach, or the soft wood smoothed by time and the elements.

Moss Green – Reminds us of a lush bed of moss, a pine forest horizon, or hiking through the Hoh Rainforest.

Sunset Gold – Reminds us of resilient larches in the autumn, a clear rabbitbrush meadow, or sunset on the coast.

Cedarwood Bronze – Reminds us of fresh footprints in rich, earthy soil, picnics on soft riverbanks along the McKenzie, or a warm campfire.

Abyss Blue – Reminds us of stumbling upon a cold mountain spring, plunging into frigid glacial pools, or staring into the deepest depths of Crater Lake.

Cinder Red – Reminds us of the bark of a redwood, winding down a cinder road, or sunset on the painted hills.

Obsidian Black – Reminds us of a sun-kissed obsidian flow, craggy lava fields, or unexplored caves.

    Made with thoughtfulness

We craft each of our maps using high-resolution digital elevation data to print with detail and precision from PLA (polylactic acid), a biodegradable bioplastic made from renewable plant starch. We hope you find our maps both educational and awe-inspiring.
